Scandium Canada Commends Naskapi Nation's Community-Driven Development Project in Nunavik

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC — June 17, 2026 — Leads & Copy — Scandium Canada Ltd. has commended the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach for its leadership in advancing the Nuuhchiimiiu Maaskinuw Project, a community-driven initiative to assess potential multi-user access corridor options within their traditional territory. The project aims to examine the environmental, cultural, social, and economic implications of these corridors.

The Naskapi Nation announced on June 12 that the initiative is grounded in engagement with community members, Elders, land users, and neighbouring Nations. The stated purpose of the project is to gather information, conduct due diligence, and support informed decision-making regarding future infrastructure. Scandium Canada emphasized its belief that decisions concerning infrastructure in Nunavik should involve all First Nations and Inuit sharing the territory.

The Company expressed support for the Naskapi Nation's evaluation of access corridor options, recognizing the priorities placed on environmental stewardship, traditional land use, Indigenous governance, and collaboration. In parallel with the Nation's initiative, Scandium Canada is continuing its engagement with Indigenous communities connected to the Crater Lake project, which includes a hydrometallurgical plant in Schefferville. The goal of this engagement is to foster dialogue, understand community priorities, and build lasting relationships based on trust, mutual respect, and collaboration.
